Latest System Enhancements
At ECSI, we strive to make everyone’s job as easy and stress free as possible. As
you know, our programmers are constantly making updates and improvements to our
systems based on suggestions and insight from all of our clients. The following
are the latest enhancements to the SAL System and to the ECSI Website:
Student & Borrower FAQ Updated on Website
We have recently updated the FAQ section on the web, which is located under
Student & Borrower tabs. The FAQ can be used to answer general questions
borrowers may have. We have also updated the Forms FAQ, which explains to
borrowers what is required with paperwork, how cancellations work, etc.
Military Deferment / PER24 Split
The new Military Contingency Deferment has been added to SAL on the PER24 loan
types (deferment code: MZ). This is the deferment to be used per the DOE prom note
update. When the new military deferment is selected, the system will check the
account to see if there are any existing PER24 loans that have disbursements before
and after 7/1/2001. If loans are found matching this condition, the system will
notify the user that the loans must be split before the deferment can be processed.
If you want to allow the system to split the loan and post the
deferment, click on the "Accept" button. The system will automatically split the
loans, and then continue to post the deferment as normal. After the split is
complete, a memo will display on the account listing the original loan amounts
and the new split loan amounts. In the end, the MZ deferment will only be on the
eligible loan from the split. (Only loans with a first disbursement date on or
after 7/1/2001 are eligible.)
New Special Report in SAL
We have created a new special report, Report #27, in the SAL reports menu. This
report contains the SSN, ID#, Name, and Email Address of every account for a
particular school. This will allow schools to create this report and use it to
send us ID numbers and email addresses to load into SAL, if they have not been
loaded previously. An Excel version of this report will be run at month-end
for every school and placed in your web reports section of the web.
New Memo Code in SAL
We have created a new memo code for use in SAL for your convenience
called "RM-Received Returned Mail."
New Change Made to History Window
When viewing the transaction history window, student deferments will now show you
the OPEID number first, and then the associated school name.
