The Office of Student Financial Assistance Programs has made available a new version of Form 553. In compliance with the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995, the Department of Education is accepting comments regarding the burden and/or collection activity of the new form.

The Federal Register on 10/18/2001 contained a request for comments of reinstatement of Form 553 with changes. On October 22, 2001, the Department of Education requested an emergency review for reinstatement of the existing form. The emergency review request can be found in the Federal Register on 10/22/2001
