ECSI is please to announce the addition of the NewsCenter to our website. The NewsCenter is our version of a news broadcast. Topics featured in the NewsCenter come from the regulation, legislation, news and headlines sections of our site.

Our NewsCenter is powered by Microsoft Agent (MS-Agent). This technology provides a new dimension to the typical user interface. MS-Agents are animated figures that can speak, gesture and even respond to spoken requests!

The Microsoft Agent portion of our site requires Microsoft Internet Explorer, Version 4, 5 or 6. We apologize to our visitors using Netscape, but we cannot support Navigator at this time.

Everything you need to view the MS-Agent portion of our site can be installed automatically when you visit the NewsCenter for the first time. You are prompted to install one or two downloads from Microsoft (the number depends on the current configuration of your PC). If you accept these downloads, you will be able to view the NewsCenter. If you plan on being a regular visitor to the NewsCenter, we suggest you install the MS Agent Character to your hard disk. This will reduce the time it takes the NewsCenter to load, giving you a better experience.

Right now, the NewsCenter is 'presentation only', meaning you cannot interract with the newscaster. Microsoft Agent has much more power than we are using to start. If we receive a positive response, we will offer many more Agent-enabled pages using more powerful features (such as voice commands). Please let us know what you think!

General Note: On your first visit to the NewsCenter, the show might not start automatically the first time. If, after you accepted the downloads, nothing happens then click on the link in the upper-left marked [Start Show]. It almost always works the second time! Subsequent visits to the NewsCenter automatically start the presentation.

Windows XP Users: It appears Microsoft goofed and XP did not ship with the proper drivers for Microsoft's own Agent technology. If you are using XP, you can correct the problem by installing this Microsoft patch
