Beta Project #3: On-line Help evaluation

As announced at the 1998 User's Conference, ECSI will deliver on-line documentation with the new SAL for windows product. Since the user's conference, we've been hard at work trying to establish document guidelines and organization.

We are working on a draft of the on-line manual that will demonstrate the concepts presented at the user's conference in a more complete fashion. We anticipate having a draft available for review sometime in late July or early August.

This project will be performed in phases. Phase one is the most critical. Subsequent phases may be repeated several times on different versions of the document. The phases are as follows:

  1. Review the draft for organization and style. Ensure that the document will be acceptable to users of varying levels of expertise. Verify the contents are sufficiently detailed for the majority of users.
  2. Discuss the inclusion of additional information in appendices that is ancillary to the SAL software but useful to the user.
  3. Review revisions of the document for accuracy and readability.

Each participant is encouraged to provide and be willing to discuss comments and opinions with ECSI and other beta participants. To accomplish that goal, we would like to publish each comment received and our response so that everyone can review, evaluate and debate suggestions.
