  1. Sorting Added to ePayments with Fees by Date (12/24/2008)

We have added the ability to sort the transactions on the ePayments with Fees by Date page. After you enter your search criteria and click on the "Find" link, you will now be able to sort the transactions that are found by any of the columns in list. To remove the sorting and revert to the original order, click the "Find" link again.

  2. Credit Card Reject Messages (12/04/2008)

It has come to our attention that certain cards are returning confusing decline messages. The most obvious error is "Transaction Declined, Invalid Merchant ID". This is obviously not the correct message unless ALL of your transactions are being declined. All transactions use the same EBS merchant ID and are not failing.

If you receive an error message that is obviously bad, you will need to contact the cardholder's bank and question why they returned the message.

The way the credit card network works, we pass a payment transaction to our gateway, they pass it to visa, they pass it to the cardholder's bank who generates the response, visa passes to skipjack, skipjack to EBS and EBS prepares the approved or declined page. Neither EBS, Skipjack nor NPC (our merchant account provider) can provide insight as to why the cardholder's issuing bank created that message.

  3. American Express (10/22/2008)

ECSI has recently removed American Express (AMEX) from our offering of accepted credit cards. The AMEX solution did not fit into our business model as well as the other cards do, i.e., Visa, Mastercard, Discover.

  4. News Page (8/25/2008)

We are creating a news page on the site. It will contain information similar to that contained in this email. The "News" link will appear on the top of the "ePay with Fees by Date" (the epay administration page). The Link will be the date of the last news item. When you see new news, you should view the document. Only if there is something urgent will we send an email to the group. You can also view the news page directly using this link http://www.ecsi.net/help/epay-news.html

  5. ePay Scheduled Downtime (8/25/2008)

Skipjack (our credit card gateway) will have regularly scheduled maintenance on the following dates: 9/07, 9/28, 11/02. Each time, credit cards will be unavailable between midnight and 6am (eastern).

The entire WebX system will be down on 9/7 for a portion of time between midnight and 6am (eastern).

  6. ePay Archive (8/25/2008)

There is a new checkbox on the epay management page (just below the transaction number). The checkbox is "Historical Transactions". When not checked (the default), transactions are reviewed from the "Live" database. When checked, transactions are reviewed from the "Archive" database.

We created the "Archive" database to store transactions older than 13 months. The age is determined by the scheduled date, so only transactions that were processed more than 13 months ago will be moved to the archive.

We have archived almost everything 2006 and older. We have started to work on 2007. We anticipate we will complete the initial archive pass by 8/29. And to ease your fears, there is no downtime during this phase of the project. Everything happens at night and payments can be made concurrent to archiving.

On September 7th, we will perform the final steps of the archiving. This will occur during the scheduled downtime (midnight to 6am eastern).

  7. Update Contact Info (8/25/2008)

We are in the process of updating your epay account's contact info. Starting within the next week or two, you will receive an email from one of our web development team. They will present the information that we have on file for you. Please fill in any missing information and correct anything we have wrong.

In the future, please send any account changes to helpdesk@ecsi.net. They will log and track all requests to make sure they are completed in a timely fashion.
